Nicole David, the current Womens Squash World Champion will be visiting Curacao soon. She has agreed to visit our island as part of the Caribbean Heat tour, in which she visits the Caribbean to promote squash and help it become an Olympic sport. She will be here the 18th and 19th of June and will do workshops, some demonstration games with the Caribbean Champion Colin Ramasra and visit schools. The event is organized from Holland where Nicole lives and trains with our former squash club member Cheyenne Lacroes (from Curacao) and Piedro Sweertman (Dutch with Curacao roots) who is currently the nr. 3 ranked player of Holland.
In order to make this event a success and help put Curacao on the [squash] map, enthusiasts are needed to help organize. A committee of 4 or 5 people has to be formed for a period of 6 weeks and it's activities include getting the desired local and international press coverage, marketing and funding to reach as many kids and youngsters as possible. Hopefully, this way not only will the number of active squashers increase, but also will it mark the start of becoming more internationally involved in the squash world, maybe even host international events in the near future.
Please participate and help make this the first of many international squash events.
